Introducing our new vet. -DVM Gingarasu
" Dear Dana,
Gill has told me that I ought to write to you and let you know what has happened to me since I left your shelter. I am having such a wonderful time and I think it's a good idea for me to tell you about my new life.

After I left the shelter in Galati I stayed in another shelter for a few weeks. Then one day 2 men and a lady put me into a big car and took me on a long journey. It was so long that I thought I would be in the car forever.
That night we stayed at something called a hotel and I stayed in a room with one of the men for the first time in my life.
It was a great luxury and I kept expecting someone to kick me out. The next day we carried on with our journey and even went on a ferry finally arriving in England.

That night I stayed with a kind man. I stayed with him all the next day and night and decided that it was a very nice place to live. I was just getting used to the idea when one of the men and the lady came for me.
They took me to a train station and a different lady came over and spoke to them. Then the man picked me up, carried me up some steps and the next thing I knew I was on a train with the new lady and my friend had gone. I wasn't very happy and sat with my back to her and wouldn't look at her.
We finally got off the train and got on another one. I made a fuss of some people sitting near me but kept on ignoring her. When we got off she took me onto a bus. When was the journey ever going to end? Luckily we only stayed on the bus for a very short time and when we got off we walked into the park.
I know the park very well now but at the time I was just glad to be finally be able to have a pee. The lady, who is called Gill , walked me through the park on a lead and took me into her house where I discovered two dogs and lots of cats. Gill said that this was now my home, the dogs were my sisters and she was my mum. I didn't know what a 'mum' was then but I do now.
(photo:in the park, with his new friends.)
Mums take care of you. They feed you and give you treats and cuddle you and take you for long walks. Mums pull you out of lakes when you fall in and wipe your paws when they get muddy. Mums get you medicine when you feel ill and clear up all the paper that you have torn and scattered around the house. Mums have nice shoes that I can collect and hide in my bed. Mums can be annoying when they want me to follow them when I would rather follow a scent or another dog, but at least someone cares about what I am doing and wants me to be safe.
So now I live in a warm house and sleep on a soft bed. I have as much food as I want and lots of chews. (Mum did buy me a pink, squeaky rubber bone but one of my sisters, Cassie, has taken it and won't let me play with it). But the most exciting part of my life is going into the park.
It is a wonderful place to explore. So many scents to sniff, squirrels to chase and rabbits to run after.
There are lots of other dogs in the park and I run over to say 'Hello' to them all. Sometimes they don't want to be friends, sometimes their owners don't want them to be friends but usually we are able to sniff each other and often they play with me. And I always have my sister Glory to play with. I didn't even know what 'play' was until I saw her running about. She has also been a street dog but in Thailand so has had a bad time but whereas she won't let anyone but mum touch her, I love everyone.
We chase each other and play fight a lot. Every time I find a stick Glory claims that it is her stick and tries to pull it out of my mouth. At first she always won but I am getting stronger and stronger and often I win now.
(photo: For my values, this means happiness.)
I am quite popular too and lots of people make a fuss of me.
The best part of the park is the lake and the best part of the lake is the muddy bits around the edges. Glory won't come in the mud now because once she fell into the water when she thought it was mud but I also fell in and it hasn't bothered me. I wade through the mud and pull out sticks and bits of rubbish. Sometimes mum says we are too slow and puts either me or Glory on a lead but she likes to see us running about and having fun together.
Cassie is a 'goody goody' and always walks properly and comes when mum calls her. I don't always come when she shouts 'Archie' but when I do I get a treat so I am getting better all the time.
So Dana, I am very grateful to you and know that without you, I wouldn't be living such a happy life. You took me off the streets and looked after me in your shelter and because you put my picture on your web site, Gill decided to adopt me. Without you I still would have been starving on the streets and might even have been dead by now and instead I am living in England and getting everything I need and a lot more besides. I hope you like the photos of me having fun.
With lots of love from Archie"
__________________________This is the story that Gill, our doggy adoptive mom -sent few days ago.
Each time I read it, I cry. I don't know exactly if because I am happy reading finally that one of my strays live decently and safely, or maybe because I suffer deep in my heart for all others living in cages, imprisoned in shelters or worse ,chained for the rest of their life...or exposed on the streets to people ignorance and cruelty.
Or maybe I just cry thinking I cannot be myself a better adoptive mom for all the dogs ROLDA took a responsibility to shelter and care for, because their number is continuously growing, because we have over 400 strays and no local support from people in terms of volunteers. Because divided, my attention is not enough for as much as they need and especially deserve!
Gill is a brave woman ,determined to make happy our stray no matter how many difficulties faced:Archie wasn't exactly the best trained dog, she educated basic things with patience and pride.
Gill informs us constantly of Archie progress and "damages" made in the new house; she is taking time to write us every few days and also sent us loads of photos with our happy dog...from the first letter, between two descriptions of Archie's "behaviour", she didn't forget to mention how proud she is of her new boy!
