ROLDA UK TEAM

Please meet the ROLDA UK team which is composed by compassionate animal lovers which volunteered in the past two years at ROLDA dog centres in Romania.

Dave Griffin-ROLDA representative UK

Dave Griffin is our new representative person for ROLDA in United Kingdom.
He volunteered in summer 2009; attending with our employees to all activities      involving animal catching, sterilizing and releasing plus helping with the daily activities  at the shelters.

After leaving Romania, he become a constant supporter writing articles about his experience here in various UK animal publications, he donates constantly from his pocket to our sheltered dogs plus he felt in love of one of the “veterans” of our shelters –VALI- a three legs dog with a problematic behaviour which Dave kindly adopt in his home.

When Veronica Titchener –our former UK representative and long-time friend decided to quit her position because of her personal family and health problems –Dave accepted to take her place and continue promote ROLDA in Wales and England.

Romania Animal Aid helps rehoming our rescued dogs in UK

Our friend Chrissy P. from London visited ROLDA shelters with her friend,Janet in fall 2008.
Being terrified by Romanian strays terrible conditions and seeing our ambitious plans ,she returned home determined to do more for our rescued friends. She registered Romania Animal Aid in UK and immediately start helping us mainly rehoming dogs in safe  permanent families; she built a network of people doing home-checking and follow-up visits/updates photos, she also raise funds to cover the expensive transportation fees.

CHRISSY TESTIMONIAL 2009

Dear All,
I work closely with an extremely well-run animal charity/shelter in Galati, SE Romania called The ROLDA Foundation (www.rolda.org).  The charity was founded by a lady named Dana Costin several years back in an effort to try and alleviate the suffering of the many thousands of young stray street dogs and puppies living uncertain and miserable lives.  Dana also runs an educational program in Galati aimed at the local communities in an attempt to promote the importance of animal welfare as well as the neutering of pets in an effort to control the chronic canine over-population problem throughout the country.

I've recently returned from my second trip to Romania seeing the work being done by this charity and was struck by the vast numbers of very young dogs and puppies living in their shelter with virtually no possibility of being re-homed within the country itself.  Whilst provided with food, shelter and a safe haven from the streets, they will simply live out there lives stuck in a kennel unless they are one of the lucky few to be chosen by adoptee in neighbouring countries.

Dana and The ROLDA Foundation work closely with another successful shelter located a few hours drive from them near the town of Oradea who have their own transport facilities through Germany on a monthly basis and they have agreed to let Dana have space for her pups/dogs to travel once their vaccinations have been done and the official paperwork is ready.
ROLDA have a solid working relationship with a nearby veterinary clinic in Galati which I also visited when I was there last and all animals are vaccinated, sterilised, wormed and given essential flea/tick treatment as soon as they enter the shelter and/or are old enough.

I am desperately trying to establish re-homing links on behalf of ROLDA with good animal shelters in Germany that could help secure a happy ending for just some of these beautiful dogs. Please meet some of our rescued dogs on:
www.rolda.org/
Please note, there are over 500 dogs in Dana's shelter and as mentioned above, they stand little chance of ever being adopted locally and therefore spend their days in a kennel with little exercise and almost no individual attention due to the sheer numbers being cared for.
If you are interested in learning more about ROLDA or would consider collaborating with Dana in an effort to find loving homes for some of her dogs, please contact us.
With much hope,
Chrissy P.
