Touching story of 3 puppies and a German shepherd mom

Saved from Bucharest and adopted in permanent UK homes. This is briefly the end of a story which could end up tragically for three puppies and their mom,if it wouldn't be Mariana -the person behind the story that saved innitially these animals and give them the very first chance for another kind of life,a better and safer one.

Thanks to Jan (for fostering and hard work) and Chrissy (for paying the transportation and work hard with rehoming procedure) now Alba, Mica,Suzi and Tzitzi have no worries for tomorrow.

Mariana V. lives and work since over 20 years in Bucharest, but her father was born in Galati.
Since she was little, she remembers rescuing animals. Mariana was born in an educated family, she was told from childhood not to kill animals and flowers and keep in mind this.

I met this remarkable woman few days before Easter, when firstly I hear on the phone her crying voice asking for help. She found herself in the terrible condition of having to give away all her beloved pets (all rescued from the streets) because of serious heart illness and heart surgery schedule in due course.

Mariana works in research field and has a good social position, but invested time (as little as she has) and her money in animals rescue…and in Bucharest area, she has a lot of “investments” to make because suffering animals are literary at every street corner, thousands of them. She doesn’t have a mobile phone or a car, but she learned to use the internet (basic level) so we continue corresponding to find a solution to place in safe homes Mariana’s pets, at least in “foster homes” until the recovery period (after surgery) will be over.

Mariana tried begging all the Bucharest shelters to take her animals in, offering food and everything in her limits to go to the surgery with peace of mind. After some evasive positive reactions and ignorance from most locations contacted, Mariana was more desperate and afraid that her furry babies will arrive again on the streets.

The most recent “furry members” of her family (Mariana lives alone with her animals in a flat in Bucharest) were rescued in the beginning of February: a cross breed German shepherd and three puppies found near a trash bin .For the first few days, Mariana and another animal lover improvised a small dog house near a high school garden; but teachers and kids threaten that they will call the dogcatchers, so eventually the 4 dogs (mother and 3 pups) ended up in Mariana flat.

For two weeks they live like kings, in human bed being spoiled and finding what love means, but unfortunately their happiness didn’t last. Mariana was scheduled for first tests in view of the scheduled heart operation and the dogs needed a safer place, at least for the next two months.

Mariana is a rational animal lover, as much as she would love these babies to remain with her, she realizes it’s not the right time and her limits are under what she thinks these doggies deserve, her strong wish is to see these doggies adopted in loving, permanent homes. She said that she is at the end of the road-with-no-return while these dogs are at the beginning of their lives; she said that such a sad beginning should end in a happy way.

She said that with tears in her sincere eyes when we’ve met, when I drove and pick the babies from Bucharest exit highway (the meeting point) and drove them to Galati to be advertised for adoption. I usually avoid becoming emotional in situations like Mariana’s but cannot avoid notice her strong character, her dignity and selflessness. I promised I will do my best her dogs to be adopted and rely on our news readers to help me achieve this special lady dream.
