SUZI'S HAPPY ENDING STORY
Update July month
Just thought you might like to know that our lovely Freya has already won another first prize at a local charity dog event. One of the judges was famous and he had been to Romania doing a TV show and seen the dogs out there. He gave a short speech on the plight of the poor Romanian strays and we got asked so many questions by lots of the people there - and there were a lot !

Here is the 24 hour update:
She was brilliant on the journey back yesterday. We stopped twice en-route and let her out the car, she was slightly nervous of us to start with and cowered away a bit when we opened the car boot, but once we got home we took her out for a short walk and then fed her when we got in and after that her confidence really seemed to soar and she was fine.

Only slight hiccup was last night ........ we put her in the kitchen when we went to bed but as soon as we came upstairs she started barking constantly and stratching at the door. We tried for about 10 minutes or so to leave her and see if she would settle but the stratching at the kitchen door became so severe that we were worried she would hurt herself as she seemed so distressed.
We tried to leave her again, but this time with the light left on but it still didn't work ........... so the upshot is that Ian slept on a matress in the lounge with her while she was in her basket and she slept peacefully all night after that. We have been practising today coming upstairs for 10 mins at a time and leaving her downstairs so hopefully she will start to get used to being on her own for very short periods to start off with.

Hope you like the photos (sorry if there are too many!). As you can see from the pics, she is eating fine. She is also poohing and weeing fine -all outside, no accidents in the house. All three of us went shopping this morning and she now has a new collar & lead and 3(!) new coats - in the photo she is modelling one of them.
Out on our walks so far, we have already met lots of dogs and she has interacted really well, as well as getting lots of compliments and questions from their owners.
Obviously it is very early days, but we are absolutely amazed at how she seems to have generally settled so well. She certainly seems happy so far and is very bright and alert and curious about everything we do. She really does seem to be taking most things in her stride.
Also, we weighed her this morning and she was 16.1kg so we will keep checking her weight regularly to see how she is doing. Her appetite is very good though so hopefully it wont take too long for her to gain a little weight. She really is a bag of bones.

It was so lovely to meet you both yesterday (and all the dogs) and we just cant thank you enough for trusting us to take Suzi home with us yesterday ..... we really are so proud of her already !
Well, that's about it for now .......... more updates will follow in a few days or so.
Thank you soooooo much for everything!
Best wishes,
Joanne, Ian and Suzi x
