» Kennels needed for sheltering homeless cats.

Beside the well-known stray dogs problem, cat overpopulation became an issue in the past years, because not dealt with responsibility and care. There are already colonies of cats around human's habitat, which need to be trapped and spayed/neutered.

ROLDA works now with VETIMED Clinic to spay/neuter cats brought to the local vet. offices by local animal lovers.

We would also like to expand our dogs 'shelter and build a separate unit exclusively for cats' care. We researched and choose these designs ,as the best for our climate and conditions in Romania.

Estimated cost for one cats'unit (including heating ,tiles on the floor , insulating building materials,...) is 6,000 Eur.

Our sponsors' name will be advertised on a plaque ,at the unit'entrance

Please remember that your support remains a testimony for the next generations!

July ,2007 - Rescue in Braila

The puppies from pictures are living on the streets of Braila, in danger and incertitude.

ROLDA is going to cover all veterinary costs related to people willing to offer these gorgeous babies a chance :to take them in homes and look after them properly.

Without your support ,they have no chance...

July ,2007 - Rescue in Bucharest

ROLDA received a touching letter from a lady who rescued a cat in danger from a Bucharest park and because she cannot keep it into her appartment anylonger ,having other animals-she wrote to all Bucharest shelter ,insisted to be helped and she was refused/ignored.

She was afraid ,seeing so many suffering animals on the streets- that the cat she rescued might have the same faith.

July ,2007 - Rescue in Galati

4 puppies saved , after a phone-call appeal .A lady was terrified that the neighbors promised to kill them because they are making too much noise.

Safely at ROLDA shelter now , they need a home where to live safely .There is no shelter in the World, no matter how modern -to be able to assure conditions enough good (emotionally speaking) to make a dog feel "home"....only your love and commitment can do that !

Especially in places like Romania ,where the attention, the affection and resources are dissipated to hundreds and hundreds of neglected animals -it's hard if not impossible to make a dog feel "home".You have the possibility to offer to dogs that we saved this chance !

Adopt from ROLDA shelter !

Puppies were full of ticks and worms...thanks to Bob Martins 'donated products ,we were able to de-worm and prepair them for vaccination !

Unfortunately, Bob Martins' donation is gone and we would need another one for our rescued animals and to continue the support community 'program !

The extreme weather in Romania makes the animals surviving and even shelter staff 'activity almost impossible. With limited water resources and temperatures going over 105° F/ 40° C, it's hard task to assure the comfort to animals in our care, hygiene measures should be strictly respected because the infections and spreading disease risk is harder to be controlled.

Thanks to our DVM , Mr.Gingarasu Cornel -we are getting excellent advices and supervision on how to handle the shelter in this extreme weather conditions.

Thanks to a UK based organization and wonderful supporters from Holland ,we are able to continue our sterilization program in the next months !

Veterinary items request

We are searching for sponsors to start buying the veterinary equipment ,because once the clinic will be up ,to be able to open it immediatly for the Galati community(free spay/neuter and reduced costs for treatments for homeless animals cared by people with low incomes).

In this newsletter ,we are making an appeal for sponsors (organization, veterinary offices, companies, animal' lovers) for buying a pulse oximetry (400-600 USD)and one autoclave (1,500 USD)

Prices are estimative ,maybe you have possibilities to obtain these pieces of equipment donated ,e.g. from your local veterinary or for a better price.

Peace Corp volunteer visiting ROLDA shelter

Maria D., a US Peace Corp volunteering for two years in Galati ,as a high school teacher visited our shelter.

Maria admitted that she was shocked to see so many strays in Galati, moreover shocked about the differences between humans 'mentality in Galati and in parallel -in New York (her city).

She discussed with us the possibility of beginning a high school education program ,starting with her classes. Being impressed of what she saw in our shelter but also realizing how much we are struggling to solve all daily problems ,she promised to work with us to bring other Peace Corp volunteers on a permanently base ,to help us.

Plus ,she offered to volunteer her time this summer -because dogs are her passion here and back in her home country .

Thank you, Maria for your good thoughts ,for offering your support and for dedicating your time to our dogs!
