BBC reporter spreading out the word about Romanian animals' real life -a documentary about ROLDA !

Cathie P.,a freelance reporter and journalist for BBC News spent a week at the ROLDA shelter ,volunteering (walking the dogs, painting), recording interviews with local people for broadcasting the real situation of Romanian homeless animals .

She interviewed the MITTAL 's VP; discussing with local animal'lovers (e.g. ROLDA volunteers, our excellent vet.,the Peace Corp volunteers,...)

A whole week she worked hard to record ,being passionate to make Romanian animals'voice heard internationally.

She also visited one of the local pounds ,where she was socked by the reality ,the miserable life of imprisoned strays.

photos: Cathie visiting the local pound .When leaving the place, she made a donation to the pound caretaker for animals food

Once she will return to work, she is going to write for ROLDA newsletter 'readers her thoughts about the Romanian trip . Part of her trip purpose was imforming the twin towns of Galati from UK, France,…about the Romanian strays condition and about ROLDA charity.

Rescue stories

7 puppies saved with their mom (a German shepherd mix) ,after we were announced by another local organization that the temporarily "host" wanted to get rid of them in the street.

Initially, there were 8 puppies but one of them we found death next to his brothers .

We found all puppies wet ,they are few days old and even the risks of disease and all sort of health problems is increased ,we are hoping their mother and our staff will be able to save them all and place them into nice ,loving families.

Saved from Braila 'streets: the female dog ,obviously needing medical attention because of severe skin problems and high infection risk was ignored by all passers-by.Corina,our representative in Braila'area took her immediately to the vet office and assure the treatment until its full recovery .Photos speaking for themselves.

Abandoned female, over 10 years old, skinny, dehydrated, brought to the shelter by a group of young people who found her in a very poor condition.

Her health condition improved in the following days ,but in order to have a comfortable life ,she has to remain in our care for as long as she lives.

If you want to become her sponsor , please contact ROLDA !

Abandoned on streets with a broken leg, rescued by a young man who called ROLDA volunteers to help with the treatment cost & to shelter until its full recovery.

Fundraising events

1. ROLDA USA - table at the Whidbey Animal Improvement Foundation's annual Wag-And-Walk event on September 9

Many thanks to our friend and collaborator,Merritt C. for making this possible !

Merritt was distributing ROLDA flyers as well as selling for half of the normal price few dozen books from his personal library in order to help Romanian animals.

During this event,ROLDA USA helped other small charities,by offering their free samples of literatures at our table.

2. "Shaking paws around the World

photo: Willie at the ROLDA shelter

We were fortunate to welcome at our shelter for few days an amazing person, 58 years old ,named Willie N.

Passionate to help noble causes around the World,he came up with all sorts of interesting ideas in the past 33 years and he was able to raise more than a million dollars, sharing with NGO's protecting animals and humans.

His latest fundraising idea is Shaking paws around the World and he successfully helped shelters all over the World until now.

ROLDA is the 10 shelter he visited...and our dogs loved him from the first moment!

He was confessing us that he loves dogs more than anything ,that's way even if he used to help charities helping humans in the past, now he returned to his real love- to help the animals

Willie impressed us with his modesty and unconditional love for the dogs,he promised he will contact Irish media about our Adoption Center'project and that he will be happy to come again, when the new center will be opened !

Many thanks to Willie N. for the important donation made to our dogs ,for the gift given for the dogs at Mr Cenac pound, for every moment dedicated to Romanian animals ,many thanks to all people that sent him donations for our dogs and to the Northern Ireland media for advertising this event!

Strays situation at the first local pound

Mr Cenac, the caretaker from the local pound remained alone at work in the past weeks because his helper was diagnosed with tuberculosis and hospitalized.

As if it wouldn't be a huge, almost impossible daily task already ,more problems appeared when the already insufficient food resources were limited and he had to make efforts daily to cook meals for dogs from the rests he is getting.

ROLDA helped him with a gas cylinder replacement, bags of dry dogfood and new tarpaulins to protect the dogs from rain and snow(the older tarpaulins were destroyed by wind and because of being all summer time exposed to sunshine)

(photo : first pound' gate- hiding a heartbreaking story !)

Please don't abandon us!

Thank you for reading ROLDA newsletter !
