LOCAL REHOMING PROGRAM
Adopting out homeless animals from our shelters is the second step in the ROLDA procedure, after sterilizing the animals and providing any other necessary medical treatment. Our goal is to humanely reduce the homeless animal overpopulation while encouraging the community to take responsibility for animals and become actively involved in helping them.

It is our opinion that nobody will come from outside to solve Romanian problems--in this case, animal-related problems--if we remain ignorant and indifferent, and refuse to invest our own resources, with the will to make positive changes happen.
Several years ago ROLDA initiated a free spay/neuter program in Galati, sustained exclusively from private donations and grants, with no help from the local authorities.
Strong community participation shows that many Romanians understand the importance of sterilizing pets. Now we are building on this foundation by encouraging the community to adopt pets from our shelters.
To encourage people to adopt our animals, we ensure that each animal is microchipped and sterilized, and ROLDA covers all of the veterinary costs associated with each adoption. We recognize that the poor economic situation may discourage many families from adopting a pet--so if a family is willing to offer food and love to a homeless animal, we eliminate the initial expense involved in taking the animal home.
